Pattern denotes repetitive space-filling design subject to prediction.
I have a long-held interest in surface pattern and its relationship to underlying material structure. Just as how the grain pattern on a wooden surface reflects the history and structure of the tree from which it came, the textures and surface patterns found in my work reflect the material's characteristics and the procedural history that I have employed. I endeavor to create surface that implies structure, conveys a sense of history, invites the hand, entertains the eye and engages the inquisitive mind.
